Easy plum cake

Delicious sponge cake with plums and cinnamon

Fruit cakes are the best. They can make a great dessert or an amazing start to a day if served as a breakfast with some tea or coffee. Plums, however, get this really special taste after baking and it goes so well with cinnamon. This is an easy and quick cake you can make even if you have some uninvited guests coming over.



*cup – 240ml

  • ¾ cup sugar (coconut sugar or regular white sugar)

  • 2 big eggs

  • 1 cup yogurt of choice 

  • ½ cup coconut oil (or any other)

  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

  • 2 cups wholewheat flour 

  • 2 tsp baking powder 

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder

  • 10 Plums

How to make it

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C

  2. Prepare your (round or square 20cm) baking tray by greasing it and dusting with some flour so the cake doesn't stick

  3. In a smaller bowl combine all the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon

  4. In a bigger bowl mix sugar and eggs until it starts getting bubbles and a bit lighter color

  5. Add vanilla extract, yogurt and oil to egg and sugar mixture

  6. Combine dry and wet mixtures and put in the prepared baking tray

  7. On top ad halved plums without the pits

  8. Bake the cake around 40 minutes

  9. Let it cool and decorate with some powdered sugar
